WHAT? WHERE? WHEN? WHO?

No band miraculously springs into existence and we didn’t either. All of us have been in numerous bands and some of those bands have a recorded legacy those of you who are intense types with huge music collections maybe interested in. All of this stuff I’m about to tell you about could be available on CDR, and some of it is already available on CD and vinyl should enough interest be shown. Please E mail us and tell us what you want and eventually we’ll do the business for as little as we can. None of this is available anywhere else unless you live in Holland…….

The Jeff Hill Band

Three piece new wave outfit who were ever so close to better things than obscurity and who operated from 1977 to 1980. Jeff had a solo single out on Chiswick, formed the band with Ray and Dave, released one more single on the bands own label in 1979 and vanished. Jeff now plays bass in a famous folk band, but respect stops me telling you who.

The Last Blues Band

A strange outfit of uncertain duration from the late 1980’s containing Steve and Dave. They split up in about 1993, but nobody is really sure. Two distinct phases, the early one which was sort of the Soft Boys meet Status Quo and the second phase as a Chicago type Blues band. They had numerous bass players, all called Steve except Mario who wasn’t.

Drive North West (www.drivenorthwest.co.uk)

A band which lasted for nine years from 1992 to 2001 (but took a deep breath and are still going strong) and whose only continuous member was Dave! The original lineup was four piece doing a mix of long guitar workouts early Fleetwood Mac style and shorter song based stuff. This gradually evolved as members came and went. By the late 1996 it was a six piece still doing marathon guitarathons, but with three part harmonies and keyboards. The second album “Rocking Horse Shit” was produced by Probe Plus Records boss Jeff Davies and has an odd rustic quality as it was recorded on an ancient analogue 24 track machine in a stable in Leigh. The final album featured the stunning singing of Susie Lowe and was much more commercial with streaks of quirky strangeness.
